Frequently Asked Questions

GENERAL QUESTIONS

What is Canoo Analytics?
Canoo Analytics is a new way for the ICC’s arts and culture partners to learn about how new Canadian citizens are interacting with their space, and with arts and culture experiences overall. We hope this tool helps our incredible partners continue driving inclusion in arts and culture. Canoo Analytics is launching in spring of 2020.

How are insights generated?
Canoo Analytics uses data generated from the mobile app. Every time a partner shares their code with a member, this visit is recorded. Members are also asked to rate their experience at the end of the visit. The ICC respects the privacy of our membership. We do not share or provide any identifiable information or contact details from our current or former membership at any time. While we collect information about our members, we do not share or provide any identifiable information or contact details from our current or former membership at any time. For further information on how we protect the privacy of our participants, take a look at the privacy policy and terms and conditions on our website.

When can I expect to receive Canoo Analytics?
Canoo Analytics is launching in spring of 2020.

What tools does Canoo Analytics provide?
All of our participating venue partners and performing arts partners will receive a bi-annual report with national data providing insights into trends from a 6-month snapshot of activity through Canoo. This includes top-level data about our membership across the country, key insights and trends derived from surveys and more. Our first edition of this bi-annual report will be released in spring of 2020, and our second bi-annual version on October 1, 2020.

Many of our partners will also receive access to an online dashboard that provides a look into the same 6 months of activity, that is specific to the visitation at their venue. Given the scale of our network, and the resources available to us as a small non-profit, we are only able to deliver custom dashboards to organizations that have received 10 or more visits from Canoo members in spring of 2020. We’ll deliver more custom dashboards to partners as we move forward and enhance Canoo Analytics over the coming months.

Will my organization get a Canoo Analytics dashboard?
Given the scale of our network and the resources available to us as a small non-profit, and the statistical insignificance of fewer than 10 visits, we are only able to deliver custom dashboards to organizations that have received 10 or more visits from Canoo members on in spring of 2020. We’ll deliver more custom dashboards to partners as we move forward and continue to enhance what we offer through Canoo Analytics over the coming months. Partners who are free admission or did not receive more than 10 visits will have access to the national Canoo Analytics report, and housed on our website here starting in spring of 2020.

If you do not receive log-in credentials for a dashboard on in spring of 2020, it is either because you are a free admission based venue or you have had fewer than 10 visits from Canoo members.

When will my dashboard refresh and show more data?
Custom dashboards will be refreshed by the ICC bi-annually, timed along with the release of our national data. Our first edition of the national report and dashboards will be released in spring of 2020, and our second bi-annual version on October 1, 2020.  We will notify our network of partner organizations via email on these dates, as well as via our regular newsletter.

What if my venue receives  10 visits in the next few months, will I get a log-in right away?
If you did not get a log-in in spring of 2020, but your venue receives more than 10 visits in the next 6 months, you will receive a log-in on October 1, 2020. Log-ins will only be sent on launch day in spring 2020 and October.

Where can I get more information about Canoo Analytics?
We are very proud of launching Canoo Analytics, and excited to share what we’ve learned from new Canadian citizens to support our partners as they build long-term relationships with our membership. If you have suggestions on what points of data you would like to see or find most valuable moving forward, please contact us directly at canoo@inclusion.ca

Accessing dashboards:

When will I receive my log-in?
Partners who have had more than 10 Canoo members visiting their venue(s) between July 1, 2019 and January 1, 2020 will receive a log-in via email in spring 2020. Partners who are free admission or did not receive more than 10 visits will have access to the national Canoo Analytics report, and housed on our website here starting spring of 2020. If you know your venue has received more than 10 visits from Canoo members and you did not get a log-in, please contact us directly at canoo@inclusion.ca.

Where do I go to log-in?
Visit our website and use the log-in credentials sent to you in early spring of 2020: http://inclusion.ca/dashboards

How do I change my password?
To change your password, visit http://inclusion.ca/dashboards
1. Enter the email address you use in your communications with the ICC
2. Press ‘Forgot your password?’
3. You will receive a reset email from Klipfolio
Please note, if you change your password, you are responsible for remembering it. The ICC has no way to record or access your password once you’ve decided to change it. You will be contacted if you receive a log-in. Use the email address we contacted you with.

I lost my log-in, what do I do?
Your login details can be easily retrieved:
1. Use the email that you regularly use to communicate with the Canoo team at the ICC.
2. Your password is your institutions venue code, plus your own first name and the first initial of your last name.
I.e. John Smith at Apple Art Gallery (Venue Code: 1234) Password: 1234johns
Please note, each organization will only receive one login. Please share this login amongst your staff as required. We will use the email and name of your institution’s main point of contact with the Canoo team at the ICC to assign and deliver logins via email in spring of 2020.

Why didn’t I get a dashboard/log-in?
There could be two reasons why you did not receive a log-in:
1. You are a free venue that does not have a venue code. If you do not have front-desk staff, it is not possible for us to track your visitation. If you do have a point of interaction between staff and visitors, we can implement a venue code and track visitation for you.
2. You received fewer than 10 visits from Canoo members. Please see the answer under “Will my organization get a Canoo Analytics online dashboard?” for more information.
Please note, national Canoo Analytics will be shared with all partners in spring of 2020.Partners who are free admission or did not receive more than 10 visits will have access to the national Canoo Analytics report, and housed on our website here starting in spring of 2020.  If you did not receive a login and believe your venue has received more than 10 visits from Canoo members, please contact us directly at canoo@inclusion.ca.

What is Klipfolio?
Klipfolio is a Canadian software company headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario. Klipfolio offers an online dashboard platform that allows businesses to visualize data and connect clients to many data services.  The ICC uses Klipfolio to provide our partners with insights into how new Canadian citizens are interacting with arts and culture spaces across Canada. We chose Klipfolio because of its customizability, allowing us to provide unique dashboards and log-ins for our growing network of partners. This means we can show partners information that is most pertinent and specific to their venue.

Understanding your dashboard

What’s meant by ‘active Canoo members’?
‘Active Canoo members’ refers to all  members across the country. In order to be considered ‘active,’ a member must simply be in their first year of citizenship.

Why does the number of visitors not match with the number projected in the ‘Age’ graph?
We are currently only providing demographic data from our active membership. This means that some of the members who may have visited your venue between July 1, 2019 and January 1, 2020 have since expired and are no longer active Canoo members. They will still be counted in your visitation data, however, information about their age is removed.

Why is the dashboard not loading?
We collect thousands of new data points through Canoo every day. This can sometimes have an impact on the amount of time it takes for your dashboard to load. If you are experiencing delays or load time issues, wait 15 minutes, and then try refreshing your browser.  If you continue to experience issues, please contact us directly at canoo@inclusion.ca and we’d be happy to help further.

I’ve logged on more than once now and the information hasn’t changed – when will I receive new data?
Please check back on October 1, 2020 for the next six months of data. Please see the answer under “When will my dashboard refresh and show more data?”
